Since June 2014, when the m/t Guanaco was incorporated to its Brazilian flag fleet, Norsul is engaged in the transportation of liquid cargoes. The vessel is a 21,081 dwt, full stainless, 28 tank unit capable of transporting a vast range of liquid cargoes, including those with IMO1 and IMO2 notation.
Additionally, in 2016, the company has incorporated a second chemical tanker to its fleet. The m/t Sveva, a 15200 dwt, marine line coated, 18 tank unit, dedicated to the transport of petroleum products, its byproducts and biofuels. Both vessels offer regular service between Brazilian and Mercosul ports.
As the leading Brazilian Company in the dry bulk transportation in the East Coast of South America, Norsul has an area that serves coastal shipping trade as well as international trade (overseas trade). It has bulk-carriers capable of serving almost all of the transportation needs between South American countries, such as iron ore, bauxite, wheat, corn, soy beans, sugar, salt, alumina, steel products, etc.
In the last ten years we have been developing customized logistics and transportation projects of neo-bulk cargoes for our clients.
The idea to create a more efficient and economical manner of transportation came up in December 1997, when Norsul developed a project requested by Aracruz Celulose (part of Fibria since september 2009) for the transportation of a greater volume of eucalyptus logs from the South of Bahia State to Espírito Santo State. With the new vessels, Aracruz succeeded in doubling the quantity of transported wood logs.
The maritime transportation of timber by means of barges is an innovative project in Brazil. One of its main benefits is the reduction of truck traffic on the highways: the total volume of 3,000,000 m3 of wood logs to be transported by the vessels annually is equivalent to about 63,000 trips per year of very heavy trucks of 54m3, in other words, one truck every eight minutes, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
